About This License
“Master Electrician” means and includes any person, firm, or corporation engaged in the business of or holding themselves out to the public as engaged in the business of, installing or repairing, or contracting to install or repair wires, conductors, and equipment used for the transmission or use of electric current.
“Journeyman Electrician” means a workman qualified and competent in the trade of electrician and who is employed by a registered and licensed “Master Electrician.”
“Apprentice Electrician” means a workman registered in an approved Apprentice Training Program.

Master Exam

- 100 questions
- 4 hours
- 75% required to pass
- Topics include General Electrical Knowledge, Wiring and Protection, Wiring methods and materials, equipment, special occupancies, special equipment, special conditions, and communication systems
Journeyman Exam
- Contact Ivy Tech at (812) 429-1418 to schedule and pay required fee for the test
- 80 questions
- 3 hours
- 70% required to pass
- Topics include General Electrical Knowledge, Wiring and Protection, Wiring methods and materials, equipment, special occupancies, special equipment, special conditions, and communication systems
