Who needs an Arkansas Business and Law License
General contractors in the state of Arkansas must hold a general contractor license prior to bidding on any residential or commercial project that exceeds $20,000. All plumbing, HVAC/R, and electrical work requires a license.

You must pass the Business and Law exam, provide a financial statement, proof of a bond, and proof of worker’s compensation insurance. You will also need to provide references who can detail your work experience
According to the Arkansas Contractors Board, you do not need a general liability insurance to apply for your License. It is recommended to carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance prior to doing any work.
