Requirements To Obtain a Louisiana Electrical License

The state of Louisiana requires general contractors to hold a state license before bidding or working for any work in the amounts listed below. There are two types of licenses awarded by the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors:

  • A residential license includes construction and home improvement projects worth more than $75,000. You’ll need to show a financial statement, as well as general liability and worker’s compensation insurance and list at least one classification.
  • A Commercial license involves commercial projects worth more than $50,000. You’ll need to submit a financial statement and list at least one classification.

For each license, candidates must pass two examinations: the trade exam, as well as the business and law exam. Plumbers, electricians, and mechanical contractors must obtain a Louisiana state commercial license to bid, contract, perform work ( or be issued a permit for these trades) if the cost of a project is in the amount of $10,000 or more.

Our online exam prep is available to help you pass your Louisiana state exams. We also offer application processing assistance. @Home Prep’s Louisiana training for exam prep courses is accepted at both the state and industry level.
