An HVAC/Refrigeration Contractors license is required in Tennessee when the project exceeds $25,000. The program takes you through each one of the reference books that the exam is based on showing you exactly what to highlight. After your highlighting is completed with each book, you have the option take an online practice test to reinforce concepts presented. How Do I Get My License?

  1. Purchase the Exam Prep Course — and then study!
  2. Pass the exam with 73% or higher.
  3. Submit your application, licensing fee and proof of insurance.

Requirements To Get A License

The following steps must be completed:

  • Step 1: TESTING: Schedule your exam(s); Pass with a 73% or higher
  • Step 2: Fill out your application, (within the application you will find the following forms to complete):
    • FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Contact a Licensed CPA/PA
    • LETTER OF REFERENCE
    • PROOF OF INSURANCE
    • CORPORATIONS AND LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANIES
    • Complete Application / Experience / Affidavit (Sign and Notarized)
  • Step 3: Application Process – $250.00 Licensing Fee and submit to the state.

*The Business and Law Exam must be passed to become a licensed contractor.
