About This License

“gasfitter” means any person who designs, fabricates, installs, tests or operates any nonindustrial type of gas appliance and piping system from the outlet of the meter set assembly, or from the outlet of the service regulator when a meter is not provided, to the inlet connections of appliances, for fuel gases such as natural gas, manufactured gas, undiluted liquefied petroleum gas, liquefied petroleum gas-air mixtures or mixtures of any of these gases; or who introduces, maintains or extends a supply of a gas through a pipe or pipes, or any appurtenance thereof, in any building, lot premises, or establishment; or who ventilates any fixture or appurtenance connected therewith; or who excavates any public or private street, highway, road, court, alley or space for the purpose of connecting any building, lot, premises, or establishment with any service pipe.

Exam Review Education

Online Training: The program takes you through each one of the reference books that the exam is based on showing you exactly what to highlight. After your highlighting is completed with each book, you have the option take an online practice test to reinforce concepts presented. The program narrated and animated.

Reciprocity Agreement

The Occupational and Professional Licensing Administration (OPLA) does allow you to apply to transfer your license from your home state to Washington D.C. via endorsement or examination. You must complete an application and pay a non-refundable $65 fee to the BIT. If your application is approved, you can then transfer your license over.
