This supplement to the AASHTO Guide for Design of Pavement Structures includes alternative design procedures for use in place of or in conjunction with Part II, Pavement Design Procedures for New Construction or Reconstruction; Section 3.2, Rigid Pavement Design; and Section 3.3, Rigid Pavement Joint Design.

These Specifications are applicable to the structural design of supports for highway signs, luminaires, and traffic signals. The Specifications are intended to serve as a standard and guide for the design, fabrication, and erection of these types of supports. Structural supports are categorized as follows: sign support structures, luminaire support structures, traffic signal support structures, and a combination of these structures.

The design standards for the maintenance and rehabilitation of older, existing structures. For new bridge designs, superseded by the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications (see related item).
