Vermont does not issue a general contractor license at the state level, but does require licensing per your trade. Cities, counties and municipalities may also specify requirements according to your specialty or trade. In contrast, electricians and plumbers are licensed at the state level. You can find more information about specific licenses types and the related requirements here. Generally, all license types are required to complete related exam(s) according to their specialty and provide proof of experience.

    All Master & Journeyman Electricians are required to obtain 15 Hours of continuing education every 3 years by the last day of the month the license was issued.     Master Electricians can install, maintain, alter, repair any wire, cable, conduit, raceway, fixture or equipment that transmits, transforms, or uses electrical energy. This license includes supervision of an apprentice. Journeyperson Electricians can perform all of the same work as a Master Electrician while under the supervision of a Master Electrician. This license includes supervision of an apprentice. The highlighting guides and quizzes are designed to familiarize students with testing materials. We do not provide students with exact test questions, as the state does not release this information.

  • Vermont Plumbing License (Master, Journeyman) – IPC Practice Tests

    Master Plumbing License covers unlimited plumbing work including sanitary drainage, water supply and storm drainage. A Journeyman Plumbing license covers unlimited plumbing work including sanitary drainage, water supply, and storm drainage while under the supervision of a Master Plumber. Master plumbers must have a Journeyman’s License for 12 months prior and pass an examination.
