Requirements To Obtain an Arkansas Residential Builder License

General contractors in the state of Arkansas must hold a general contractor license prior to bidding on any residential or commercial project that exceeds $20,000. All plumbing, HVAC/R, and electrical work requires a license. 

You must pass the Business and Law exam, provide a financial statement, proof of a bond, and proof of worker’s compensation insurance. You will also need to provide references who can detail your work experience.

Steps To Obtain Your License:

  2. Obtain all required insurance and contact a CPA or PA to prepare your financial statements. 

Residential contractors are required to have continuing education. Reciprocity agreements exist for Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
