Requirements to Fulfill Florida Cosmetology Initial HIV/AIDS Course (4 Hours)

To become a licensed cosmetologist in Florida, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Complete 1,200 hours of cosmetology school in a Florida school.
  • Age: Be at least 16 years old or have a high school diploma
  • Exam: Pass both portions of the cosmetology exam within two years of each other
  • HIV/AIDS course: Complete a four-hour HIV/AIDS course within two years of applying
  • Application: Submit an application, along with the required fees, online
  • Graduate certification: Submit a completed Graduate Certification Form
