This includes any worker or supervisor who, may be in contact with, or exposed to toxic materials and health hazards. Please note, supervisors and managers are encouraged to take the 40-hour online class in order to fulfill their OSHA requirement. However, all supervisors have additional requirements beyond the 40-hour class to complete as well.
Requirements and Certification Overview
Our 40 hour HAZWOPER training is designed to ensure workers know the proper procedure when dealing with hazardous materials, know proper emergency response methods and understand the necessary safety procedures.
Training requirements vary depending on a worker’s specific duties and involvement with site activities. All training requirements intend to satisfy the requirements set forth in the OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.120, which applies to hazardous waste and health hazard workers and supervisors.
In order to maintain high safety standards and proper hazardous material handling, workers that participate in handling toxic materials regularly, as well as workers that only occasionally visit a site, must fulfill the requirements of OSHA approved training.
As noted at the bottom of this page, additional on-site training may be required as a compliment to your online coursework. Once you have completed all coursework, you will receive a certificate of completion that you will need to keep on file.
You must obtain on site training which includes field experience. This can be acquired from your place of employment.
