Requirements to Fulfill Indiana Water Continuing Education (10 Hours)
Continuing education requirements for water operators in Indiana vary depending on the type of license and the operator’s classification:
- Wastewater operator
- The number of required contact hours depends on the operator’s classification:
- Class A-SO and I-SP: 8 contact hours
- Class A, B, I, and II: 15 contact hours
- Class C, D, III, and IV: 30 contact hours
At least 70% of the required contact hours must be from technical courses, and no more than 30% can be from nontechnical courses
The renewal deadline is June 30 every two years
- Water treatment plant or water distribution system operator
- The number of required contact hours depends on the operator’s grade:
- Grade FSO, DSS, WT 1: 10 contact hours
- Grade DSM, DSL, WT 2: 15 contact hours
- Grade WT 3: 25 contact hours
- Grade WT 4, WT 5, WT 6: 30 contact hours
- Water well driller or pump installer
- The minimum number of required contact hours is six for a water well driller or pump installer license, and 12 for a combination license
- The continuing education cycle is two years, with hours due by December 31 of the second year
