Requirements to Fulfill Iowa Cosmetology Sanitation Continuing Education (2 Hours)
In Iowa, cosmetologists must complete 6 hours of continuing education every two years to renew their license:
- Hours required
- At least 4 hours must be in the cosmetologist’s practice discipline, and at least 2 hours must be in Iowa cosmetology law, rules, and sanitation
- Compliance period
- The compliance period begins on April 1 of one year and ends on March 31 two years later
- Documentation
- Licensees must keep their course completion certificate and materials for four years for auditing purposes
