In Massachusetts, a plumber is a licensed professional regulated by the Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters who installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing systems that supply potable water, remove wastewater, and protect public health and safety.
Journeyman Plumber
A person who himself does any work in plumbing and gas fitting, subject to inspection under any law, rule, or regulation.
Master Plumber
A plumber having a regular place of business and who, by himself or journeyman plumbers in his employ, performs plumbing and gas fitting work, subject to inspection and in compliance with any law, rule, or regulation pertaining to same.

The Massachusetts Plumbing Journeyman/Master Exam is a closed book 160-minute exam that requires a 70% score to pass. To use your time efficiently in the exam, it is extremely helpful to prepare in-depth and have your book tabbed and highlighted prior to the exam.
