Requirements To Fulfill Tennessee Limited Residential Contractor BC-A/r License
Tennessee Contractors can apply for a Limited License with the BC-A/r classification, this classification restricts residential contractors to building in the amount of $125,000 or less. In lieu of the exams they may attend a course at, or offered in partnership with, a state community college. This course covers a variety of topics essential to beginning your career as a licensed contractor. With 365 days of access to the course upon purchase, you will be able to move through the course at your own pace while our system tracks your progress.
*Course must be completed within 1 year of date of enrollment. We are NOT able to offer extensions on this course.
Certificates are good for two years from date of completion.
Once completed you can then follow Tennessee’s Licensing Steps listed below, to obtain your Limited Residential License (BC-A/r).
- Obtain your Certificate for a Limited Residential Contractor course from a Tennessee Community College
- Have a Financial Statement Prepared by a licensed independent accounting firm
- Prepare any necessary Letters of Reference and Proof of Insurance
- File and obtain any necessary documentation for your business with Tennessee’s Secretary of State’s office
- Complete your Tennessee Contractor’s License Application and submit it to the Board for Licensing Contractors with the $250 licensing fee
