Requirements To Obtain a West Virginia Concrete Contractor License

• Verify your necessary classification(s) and subsequent exam(s) required to licensing@wv.gov. Applications for electrical licensure can be obtained by calling (304) 558-2191 ext 219. All other applications should call (304) 558-9551. 
• Next, prepare and complete the necessary contractor licensing exams, including business and law and the trade. Examination can be scheduled through ProV by calling them at (866) 720-7768. 
• You may also be required to register your business and workers. Further information can be found via West Virginia’s Division of Labor.

West Virginia does not require each licensee to complete Continuing Education prior to each renewal. West Virginia has reciprocity arrangements on an individual basis.

Steps To Obtain Your West Virginia Concrete Contractor License

1. All applicants must submit the application for licensure to the state. It must include verified education and work experience as required by the state. Once approved, the state will contact you with an exam date and time.
2. Study and pass the exam. Pre-approval is required.

About The West Virginia Concrete Contractor Exam

“Concrete Contractor” means a contractor whose primary business is installation and repair of concrete, concrete reinforcing materials, concrete products and accessories common to the industry, including the forming, pouring, and finishing of concrete structures such as footings, foundations, slabs, basements, sidewalks and walkways, driveways and parking areas, fence footings, decorative concrete walls not to exceed four (4) feet in height and retaining walls not to exceed five (5) feet in height and the excavation incidental to the performance of that work.

The  West Virginia Concrete Contractor Exam is an open book 180 minute exam that requires an acceptable score to pass. To use your time efficiently in the exam, it is extremely helpful to prepare in-depth and have your book tabbed and highlighted prior to the exam.

• The West Virginia Concrete Contractor Exam is an open book examination with 50 multiple-choice questions. 
• There is a minimum passing score of 70. 
• You will have 180 minutes to complete this examination.
