This course is made up of a detailed presentation that takes you through all the information you will need to pass the exam on your first try.
Passing the Business and Law Exam is required to be licensed and you are required to have prior approval from the State Board before testing. You are required to have 5 years documentable experience in the classification desired or have been an engineer with 3 years of business experience in the construction industry. We offer review for the exam in an online format. The online exam review includes hundreds of questions and covers key concepts that you will be tested on. @HomePrep is a National Leader in online education.
An unlimited mechanical HVAC license entitles the licensee to install, alter, modify, service, maintain, or repair a ventilation (duct) system and/or:
(A) any cooling product, system, or equipment, including the process piping, and/or
(B) heating equipment, including the process piping.
A journeyman is required to work under the supervision of a contractor.

- Submit your application, licensing fee and proof of insurance.
Requirements To Get A License
UNLIMITED HVACR CONTRACTOR LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants for a journeyman license must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and have either
- Four (4) years of verifiable experience in the mechanical trade in the category for which he is applying OR
- Have an associate degree or Vo Tech diploma from a school, approved by the Committee, which exhibits knowledge of the trade in the category of license applied for and two (2) years of verifiable experience in the mechanical trade.
- Each active electrical contractor must furnish a $5,000 surety bond.
- Workers compensation and $50,000 liability insurance are also required.
- To become a licensed contractor, the business and law exam must also be passed.
UNLIMITED HVACR JOURNEYMAN REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants for a journeyman license must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and have either
- Three (3) years of verifiable experience in the mechanical trade in the category for which he is applying OR
- Have an associate degree or Vo Tech diploma from a school, approved by the Committee, which exhibits knowledge of the trade in the category of license applied for and one (1) year of verifiable experience in the mechanical trade.
Each journeyman must be licensed and employed by a licensed contractor before engaging in work.

Applying for Licensure
An application for licensure can be obtained from the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board calling 1-405-271-5217.
Application and License Fees
- HVACR Contractor $330.00 (License $300.00 / Processing $30.00)
- HVACR Journeyman (Reciprocal or otherwise) $75.00 (License $50.00 / Processing $25.00)
Licenses are good for 1 year.
Exam Details
- The testing company is PSI (1-800-733-9267)
- The contractor exam has 90 questions and a time limit of 240 minutes. A score of 75% is needed to pass.
- The journeyman exam has 70 questions and a time limit of 180 minutes. A score of 75% is needed to pass.
- The exam fee is $88. If you are sitting for the trade exam and the business law exam in the same session, the fee for both parts combined is $88.
- Topics on the exam include electrical knowledge and controls, natural gas, air distribution systems, refrigeration and air conditioning systems, heating systems, and safety.
