Licensing Information
Requirements To Get A License
Effective 11/1/2016 you will need to be pre-approved by NASCLA before you may take the examination. An application must be filed with NASCLA and they must approve the application. Once an individual is approved, the individual’s name is forwarded from NASCLA to PSI. PSI will then send the applicant an email confirmation with information to register to take the examination.
The eligibility will be valid for one (1) year. You may take the examination 3 times within that one (1) year period. If you do not pass within the one (1) year period, you will need to reapply with NASCLA. To apply online, visit NASCLA’s website here.
All NASCLA licensees are still required to meet other state licensing regulations in order to obtain a license in any accepting state.
These requirements include taking the State Business Law Exam and submitting a State Board Contractor License Application.
How Do I Get My License
- Go to the NASCLA National Examination Database: https://ned.nascla.org/
- Cost is $106 plus $25 application fee.

- Your application is active for 1 year from your date of approval. You will have 3 attempts to pass the examination. If you do not pass or are unable to sit for all 3 exams you will need to wait until your year of eligibility has expired.
