Course Overview

Description, benefits & features

This course is made up of a detailed presentation that takes you through all the information you will need to pass the exam on your first try.

We offer review for the NASCLA Contractor Exam through a home study/ online course format. The program takes you through each one of the reference books that the exam is based on showing you exactly what to highlight. After your highlighting is completed with each book, you have the option to take an online practice test to reinforce concepts presented. Also, there is an extensive math and plans analysis portion. The program is narrated. Pre-approval from NASCLA is required to sit for the examination and you must have a minimum of 2 years of commercial experience within the last 5 years.

Requirements To Get A License

Effective 11/1/2016 you will need to be pre-approved by NASCLA before you may take the examination. An application must be filed with NASCLA and they must approve the application. Once an individual is approved, the individual’s name is forwarded from NASCLA to PSI. PSI will then send the applicant an email confirmation with information to register to take the examination.

The eligibility will be valid for one (1) year. You may take the examination 3 times within that one (1) year period. If you do not pass within the one (1) year period, you will need to reapply with NASCLA. To apply online, visit NASCLA’s website here.

All NASCLA licensees are still required to meet other state licensing regulations in order to obtain a license in any accepting state.

These requirements include taking the State Business Law Exam and submitting a State Board Contractor License Application.

How Do I Get My License

  • Go to the NASCLA National Examination Database: https://ned.nascla.org/
  • Cost is $106 plus $25 application fee.
  • Applications will be processed within 7 business days.
  • Once your application is approved you will receive an email directly from support@psiexams.com with a link to schedule the exam at one of PSI’s locations. If you do not receive this email after 7 business days, please reach out to our office.
  • Your application is active for 1 year from your date of approval. You will have 3 attempts to pass the examination. If you do not pass or are unable to sit for all 3 exams you will need to wait until your year of eligibility has expired.
  • If your year of eligibility has expired, please go to https://ned.nascla.org and apply to take the examination as a re-applying applicant with your original NASCLA Candidate ID Number
