Residential Construction
Contractors focused on residential work have a lot to look forward to this year as recovery from the pandemic is in full swing. In fact, residential construction was up 21% from February 2020. Though February’s winter weather caused a dip in construction spending, the numbers indicate that permits are still higher than 2019, which means residential construction will remain steady now that the cold weather is behind.
Commercial Construction
There may be no denying 2020 was a tough time for commercial construction. The weather in February didn’t help move things much either. However, according to Contractor Mag commercial contractors are increasingly optimistic about the rest of this year. Most indicate plans to hire and expect to see either the same or increased income for 2021.
Opportunities for Skilled Labor
The biggest issue in construction existed prior to the pandemic: finding skilled labor. From trim carpenters to electricians and plumbers, construction companies need more workers!
