Requirements To Obtain North Carolina Concrete (S) Contractor License
To obtain a license you must complete the Application for License to Practice General Contracting in the State of North Carolina which is available on the Boards website at www.nclbgc.org. The application must fully comply with all requirements established by the Board’s statutes and rules.
The North Carolina Concrete Contractor Exam requires applicants to:
- be at least 18 years old,
- possess good moral character, as determined by the Board
- provide evidence of financial responsibility, as determined by the Board
- submit the appropriate application fee
- Pass a North Carolina Classification Exam(s)

Exam Overview
The North Carolina Concrete (S) Contractor Exam is an open book 120-minute exam; however, not all books are allowed into the exam. You are required a 70% score to pass. To use your time efficiently in the exam, it is extremely helpful to prepare in-depth and have your book tabbed and highlighted prior to the exam. Highlighting, tabs and written notes in reference materials are permitted prior to arriving at the test site. However, during the exam you may not write in the reference materials.
